Weekly Inspiration - Summer is here and we have a tomato!

Summer is here and activity seems to have tripled among the birds, bees and finally the plants we have been lavishing with our affection over the last few months. This is the first year I have tried to grow any form of vegetable/fruit and I must say, I am very happy with the results so far. Along with tomatoes, sweetcorn, cucumber, chilli, lettuce, onions and a few choice herbs, we have been experimenting with a 'Nature Reserve' at the bottom of the garden. That is to say, I have let the weeds grow they are attracting quite a few butterflies! I was very excited today as during my usual morning water of the tomato plants, I found, much to my surprise our first real fruit! As you can see, it is not that exciting to the average human being but seeing the fruits of your labour in edible form can send a shiver down your spine! The next few months are going to be quite fruitful!!!

Are you tired of turning on the television and seeing countless reality TV shows and 'Talent' Contest's? Do you wish for something to set your senses tingling with excitement? Check out my ideas below on how to really enjoy yourself!

Television

Probably not the best to start with but what the hell......... I don't usually watch T.V much nowadays but one thing that has always kept my attention is Eastenders. Sad? Yes I know! but this is the only long running soap which I have always kept an interest in. Whether it is Dot, with the long running saga between her and Nick or Phil and his blooming relationship with Dawn..... not gonna last..... my eyes are glued to the screen! I hope you are as eager for the goss as me!!! Check it out here!

Louis Theroux has been around for ages. It all started with his Weird Weekends and I have been a fan ever since. Louis has explored many fringes of society from the stark desert of Nevada, home of Area 51 and the people who surround the military base looking for UFO's to South Africa and the continuous struggle of the nation and an insight into the Boer population. You can watch episodes of Louis Theroux on Dave and also on Blighty. You can view an excerpt from one of his episodes below. Enjoy!

This is an excerpt from 'The Most Hated Family in America' (also seen on Jeremy Kyle!)

Recognise this 'Fat Bastard'? Yes for all who know and love Family Guy this serves to remind exactly why we keep coming back for more. This animated sitcom centres around the lives of the Griffin Family and the their neighbours. There are some truly outrageous scenes and it is no wonder the show was cancelled twice by Fox. However, essentially, the show is hilarious and you can expect to witness some classic scenes which will leave you wondering why you have not watched this before. BBCThree airs episodes of Family Guy most evenings at around 11pm. FX also shows triple bills every night from 9pm.

Gardening Diary - Pics during Flowering.

The day is 7th June and this is the yield so far! Our cucumbers are sprouting little antennae which I can only imagine will grow into my favourite fruit. the strawberries are flowering and sending off feeders (secondary shoots which grow roots and turn into another strawberry plant). The sweetcorn is the most exciting as I thought this would be most difficult to grow.It looks like another kernel is coming up through the stem. May be my imagination.

These have all been grown in a greenhouse, apart from the Raspberries, I would think that's why they're flowering so early. The 'normal' summer we are having so far is helping too. As my mother says, the birds are nesting high this year, must be a good sign. I'll let you know how it goes!
